The bus hypothesis

For some weird reason in recent times I had been asking a question from many people. I usually do not allow them to think too much since I want to know their natural reaction to this. So let me ask the question in the blog so based on your answers I will try improve on the hypothesis.

"The" Question
Imagine that you are at a typical Sri Lankan bus stand and the bus that you are waiting for comes and stops right in front of you. The bus is positioned in such way that the front door and the back door are within equal distance from you. If you go by your natural instincts to which door will you head to?  ( assume that all the seats in bus are already taken and both doors are equally congested. )

- Answer A- You will head to the front door majority of the time
- Answer B- You will head to the back door majority of the time
- Answer C- Its totally random

Based on the answer I think I can explain some characteristics of  the person! So give it a shot and help me improve the hypothesis. I will write the explanation in a subsequent blog.

  4. @sandarenu , assume that all the seats in bus are already taken and both doors are equally congested. - Now which one will be your natural choice?

  6. @kaarunya I guess you don't fall into either extremes, something tells me that probably you are a mild introvert? How good is my guess?

  7. Actually i got your question other way around ... I thought you were asking when get off.. But usually it's nearest door to get in that means option C :).. Anyway your guess is almost right ;)

  8. i would reach to the right hand side- back door, as traditionally back door is to bored the passengers in and the front door is to get off the bus...

Yea its true, there are some science behind this. And i have read some where that we can device a mathematical model based our daily routines...such as out of many route from your station to toilet, you could take one particular route for mysterious reason...are your trying to do those kind of things? as you guys in the 4th floor really good at maths !

  9. I'm sure most of us (including me) would head towards the back door as it is supposed to be the bus 'entrance' while the front door is supposed to be the 'exit'

  10. @Dulan thanks for dropping by. I heard the same argument from my sister too! One argument that was used to tell me that hence a hypothesis cannot be derived by using this as a parameter.
